Archaeological Museum of Chania
(21 Chalidon street, in the church of
Saint Francis, tel. no.0821/20.334).
It contains important finds from the ex-
cavations in the Chania region and the
whole of western Crete, dating from the
Neolithic to the Roman period. The

A collection of Early Geometric and
Geometric pottery, Hellenistic statues
from the Lissos Asclepieion.
Mosaics from Chania depicting Posei-
don and Amymone, Dionysus and
Ariadne. Classical and Hellenistic fig-
urines, a collection of coins of various
periods, glass vessels of Greco-Roman
times from Tarra and many other inter-
esting exhibitis.

Historical Archives of Crete and Museum.
It is housed in a neo-classical building, at 20, Sfakianaki Street,
tel. 22.606. It includes historic documents, collections, archives,
religious vessels, maps, coins, a photographic collection, etc.
In a special room dedicated to Eleftherios Venizelos are exhibited
personal objects and mementos belonging to the great Greek statesman.
An important library and a folk art collection are also housed here.

Chania Naval Museum:
It is housed in a building of the "Firkas" fortress, (tel.
no. 26.437). Here are exhibited models of ships from antiquity to
modern times and relics from the historic battles of the Greek Navy.
Municipal Library:
This is housed in a room of the Municipal building on Kydonias Avenue,
tel. no. 23.273. In includes 60,000 volumes of books, 15,000 magazines
and newspapers, and the personal library of Eleftherios Venizelos
comprising 8,500 volumes.
